Google has taken the integration between Google + and Google search a step further by creating the ability to update a Google + profile from the Google search area. Simply click the share button to update your Google + profile. This is just yet another example of how Google is working to make their products more social. The feature is new and has not been commented on by Google yet. Because of this, we should assuming it is still in testing mode.
SEO Inc. reported on the possibility of branded business pages appearing on Twitter sometime ago. Those rumors have proven to be correct as Twitter branded business pages are now being offered to a small beta group.
According to Twitter, “We are thrilled to launch the new enhanced profile page exclusively with 21 advertising partners and select charities and individuals.”
Some of the profiles being offered this exclusive opportunity are @AmericanExpress, @BestBuy, @bing. However, keep in mind you’ll need to use the new version of Twitter to see these enhanced profile pages.
Twitter is pushing the envelope yet again with a new design and functionality.
“Today we introduce a new version of Twitter. We’ve simplified the design to make it easier than ever to follow what you care about, connect with others and discover something new. You’ll see this new design both on Twitter.com and mobile phones, so that you’ll have a familiar experience any time, anywhere. We’ve also updated TweetDeck to be consistent with this new version.” – Twitter
The new Twitter design and functionality looks similar to the Facebook Timeline in many ways. First, feel free to watch a video on the new design and functions, then we will explain them.
New Twitter Design and Tabs
Twitter Home Tab
This is where you can see the Tweets from your followers.
According to Twitter, “It’s now easier and faster to see the information that matters most to you. Immediately access your favorite features from the left-hand side. Photos, videos and conversations are embedded directly in Tweets so you can see the whole story at a glance. And now everything in Home will appear consistently across computers, iPhones, and Android mobile phones.”
With all the hype surrounding Facebook people often forget about YouTube. A recent report by comScore suggests this is the wrong thing to do. In this post we will cover important points from this recent comScore study and show you why YouTube is not a social media site to be ignored.
According to comScore, Google Sites, driven primarily by video viewing at YouTube.com, ranked as the top online video content property in October with 161 million unique viewers and reached a record high of 20.9 billion videos viewed. Not surprisingly Facebook.com ranked second with 59.8 million viewers.
Google+ is growing quickly. Branded pages were just released a week ago and now 61% of major brands have already secured their page. Compare this to 91% of major brands with pages secured on Facebook and the numbers start to look very close, especially since Google+ has had such a shorter existence than Facebook. With all of these users and brands flocking to Google+ Google feels that promise is on the horizon. They are investing heavily in new features which is what we are going to talk about today.
Trending Topics – What’s Hot
Like Twitter, Google+ is now listing trending topics know as What’s Hot. They rolled this feature out last night without much of a commotion. While that is the case the feature is listed clearly in the sidebar.
