White-hat outreach and digital PR

The links that count come from relevant publishers who chose to cite you. We build the asset, find the right editors and make the pitch.

Digital PR campaigns

We turn your data, surveys or expert commentary into stories, then pitch reporters covering your industry. One strong story can earn coverage across many outlets.

Editorial links from relevant publishers

We pitch expertise, quotes and resources to the sites that already rank for your topics. The editor decides on placement, which is what makes the link valuable.

Linkable assets

Original research, calculators and guides give people a reason to link. Our SEO copywriting and blog writing teams build it.

Unlinked brand mentions and link reclamation

We find mentions of your brand without a link, and links to pages you moved or removed. A polite request or a redirect recovers authority you already earned.

Optimized press releases

Syndicated company news builds awareness. We qualify links in distributed releases and pair them with outreach for editorial pickup. See SEO optimized press releases.

Competitive link analysis

We compare your links with competitors ranking above you: page distribution, anchor variety, relevance and trust. The gaps become the outreach list.

Brand mentions and AI citations

Why mentions matter for AI answers

AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity build answers from sources they trust. Coverage in respected publications connects your brand to your topic.

Google says SEO fundamentals still apply

Google’s guidance on AI features and your website (updated December 10, 2025) states there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and that the best practices for SEO remain relevant.

Mentions count even without a link

A trade article naming your company as a category leader builds that association with or without a hyperlink. We track both.

Measuring AI visibility

We run a fixed set of buyer questions through major AI assistants on a schedule and record who gets cited. It pairs with our AI SEO services.

What makes a link worth having

One link from a relevant, trusted publication can outweigh hundreds from sites nobody reads. Quality beats volume.

Topical relevance

The linking site covers your industry or your buyers’ interests.

Real audience

The site earns its own organic traffic and has readers, not just metrics.

Editorial control

An editor chose to publish and link. No pay-to-post placements.

In-content placement

The link sits in the body copy where it helps the reader, not a footer or sidebar.

Natural anchor text

Brand names, URLs and descriptive phrases, not repeated exact-match keywords.

Trustworthiness

A clean site with real authors, which supports the trust signals behind E-E-A-T.

Deep-page links

Links spread across service pages and resources, not only the homepage.

Steady growth

New links arrive at a pace that matches real coverage, never a sudden spike.

Our line in the sand

What we will not do

Google defines link spam as creating links primarily to manipulate search rankings. Its spam policies for Google web search list the practices below. So does our do-not-do list.

Private blog networks (PBNs)

Sites built or bought only to link to clients are low-value content made to manipulate linking signals. We never use them.

Buying or selling links for ranking

Google lists paying money, goods or services for ranking links as link spam. Sponsored links are fine only with rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow".

Excessive link exchanges

Swaps and partner pages built for cross-linking are on Google’s list.

Automated link building

Software that mass-creates profile, comment or forum links is named in the policy. A person researches and pitches every link we pursue.

Paid guest posts and advertorials

Paid articles with ranking links or keyword-rich anchors are link spam. Our contributions are accepted on merit.

Low-quality directories, widgets and footer links

All listed by Google. We use only genuine, curated industry and local listings.

Clean before you build

Every program starts with an audit of your existing links. Spam from a past vendor or a negative SEO attack can hold back new links, so we decide link by link what to keep, remove or disavow.

When a site has a manual action, our backlink removal and link detox team requests removals, documents every request, disavows what cannot be removed and files the reconsideration request. To strengthen a profile after cleanup, see backlink profile enhancement.

Google’s disavow tool is for links you cannot get removed. Most sites without a manual action do not need one, so we use it carefully.

Questions buyers ask
Question

What are inbound links?

Links from other websites to yours. Links from reputable, relevant sites signal your content is worth recommending.

Question

Do links still matter in 2026?

Yes. Google still uses links to discover pages and judge relevance, and the same pages that earn trust feed its AI Overviews and AI Mode.

Question

Why not just buy links?

Google lists buying links for ranking purposes as link spam. Its systems can ignore those links, and a manual action can drop your rankings.

Question

Does social media help?

Social links are usually nofollow, but sharing fresh content puts it in front of editors who may link to it. See social media optimization.

Transparent reporting

Every link we earn is listed with its URL, so you can click through and judge it yourself.

Link log

Each live link with the URL, publication, anchor text, target page and date.

Outreach activity

Pitches sent, replies, placements won and stories in progress.

Mentions and AI visibility

Linked and unlinked mentions, plus citation checks across major AI assistants.

Ranking and traffic impact

Rankings, organic traffic and conversions for the pages receiving links, from Search Console and GA4.

Profile health

New risky links flagged early, with a recommendation for each.

Proven results

Link profile cleanup and authority building inside full SEO programs. Follow the links for full context.

Penalty recovery

National carpet cleaning franchise

A franchisee’s low-quality SEO vendor created bad links and a Google penalty. We audited every link and documented removals for Google.

Straight answers to the questions businesses ask before hiring a link building company.

What do your link building services include?

A toxic link audit, competitive link analysis, digital PR, editorial outreach, linkable assets, link reclamation and a monthly report listing every live link by URL.

Are your link building methods white-hat?

Yes. We follow Google’s spam policies for web search, which define link spam as creating links primarily to manipulate rankings. We do not use PBNs, paid ranking links, link exchanges or automated link tools.

Do you buy links or use sponsored posts?

We do not buy links that pass ranking credit. Google allows paid or sponsored links only when they carry rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow", so any sponsorship we recommend is labeled that way.

How do brand mentions help with AI answers?

Google states there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode beyond SEO best practices. Credible coverage that ranks gives AI answers more trusted sources naming your brand.

What makes a backlink high quality?

Relevance, a real audience, editorial choice, in-content placement, natural anchors, trust, deep-page targets and steady growth. We judge links on these eight signals, not one third-party score.

Can you remove toxic backlinks or fix a manual action?

Yes. We audit the profile, request removals, disavow what cannot be removed and file the reconsideration request. For one national franchise we contacted all 30,000 linking sites before Google reinstated it.

How do you report on link building?

A monthly link log with URL, publication, anchor and date for every link, plus outreach, mentions, AI citation checks and ranking data from Google Search Console and GA4.

How long has SEO Inc. been building links?

SEO Inc. has worked in search since 1997, is a Google Partner and built a first-in-the-nation college-credited SEO and SEM course for UC San Diego in 2010.
