Internet Marketing Tips, Suggestions, & Ramblings

The New MySpace, MySpace Seeks to Dominate Again

It’s almost sad to think how mean everyone has been to MySpace. MySpace started the social network revolution. They founded the concept which exploded across the world scene and  ultimately attracted millions of members. And after all MySpace gave us, all we could do was look back at the highly innovative site, laugh, and say, “MySpace is dead, it’s all about Facebook and Twitter now.” Well, just as with zombies rising from the grave, MySpace is coming back to life, and the site is looking to eat away at the massive user base of other social networks.

One of the main objectives of the new MySpace is to make sharing as easy as possible across other social networks. This has been a common trend in the space, as it allows for synergy and no network to be left out. In addition, it helps replicate the viral effect marketers are so desperately seeking for their social media marketing. The share feature on MySpace is front and center, just as it exists on Facebook and Twitter.

MySpace has long been known for their media applications. This has given musicians valuable free tools to market their business. MySpace will continue to embraced this musical niche, and make these tools available in the new design.

Beyond basic template redesigns and strives towards simplicity, MySpace has also created a new logo. Watch the new MySpace logo video below.

No relaunch of a social media site with possible social media marketing implications would be complete without a word from the CEO. Here is a message from the MySpace CEO on the new MySpace design.

Meet the New Myspace

Today we begin the global rollout of the new Myspace, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Let’s open by saying that we wouldn’t be anywhere without you. It’s your passion, creativity and energy that drives Myspace forward and makes it an exciting place to be. That’s why we’ve designed the new site with you and your interests in mind.

We know you’re all about entertainment. Not only do you love discovering new bands, watching exclusive movie trailers and clips, keeping up with your favorite celebrities, and playing games, but you like to share these experiences with your friends and likeminded people. Of course, you want to be able to do all this online, on your phone, and at events like Secret Shows.

We call this social entertainment. Everything about the new Myspace – from the layout and design, to the color scheme, and even our logo – has been remade to deliver the best social entertainment experiences.

The new Myspace is cleaner, with a fresh design that puts content center stage. It’s also smarter, providing you with a personalized experience by recommending content based on your interests. And new tools like the Discovery Tab, My Stuff Tab, and ‘Right Now on Myspace’ show you what’s trending on the site and make it easier for you to save and share it.

These are just a few of the things you can find in the new Myspace. For info on all the new features, and a fun video, check out www.myspace.com/newmyspace.

If you don’t have the new Myspace yet, that’s ok – everyone will be upgraded to the new site by the end of November. As you explore the site, feel free to let us know what you think in the comments below. The new Myspace was built for you, so we’d love to hear your feedback.

This is the new Myspace. We’re incredibly proud of it, and we hope you enjoy it.

Mike Jones
CEO, Myspace
