Is Google AdWords Losing it’s Edge?

Share

Let’s forget about organic search engine optimization for a moment and talk about Pay Per Click marketing. When you think Pay Per Click management, your mind probably thinks of the sponsored links on a Google search page. Mine does. After all, Google has been my preferred search engine for years now and my first online marketing class in college focused on setting up Google Adwords accounts. It makes sense to use Google for your paid search engine marketing needs. 80% of search traffic comes from there. However, most successful campaigns learn to optimize for the big three search engines: Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

I’ve been surprised by the amount of conversions that can come through Yahoo and MSN. Because everyone is competing for words on Google, bids are almost always lower on the other two. Neither receives the amount of impressions, clicks, or conversions that Google does, but you would be surprised at how high the conversion rate can be, especially when comparing it to how little you have spent.

Search Engine Optimization & Social Media Support Email Marketing

Share

SEO Inc. has been known for premium search engine optimization for some time now, but we also have a very strong social media department which consults in a wide array of social integration.

Today, eMarketer released an article on combining the power of email marketing and social media. Here are some of the highlights from the report:

“More than four in 10 business executives surveyed by StrongMail said integrating e-mail and social was one of their most important initiatives for 2010, just after improving e-mail performance and targeting and growing opt-in lists.”

“Four-fifths (81%) of marketers surveyed by MarketingSherpa in summer 2009 said social media helped to expand the reach of their e-mail content, most likely because of sharing buttons incorporated into e-mail newsletters. A further 78% said social helped to increase brand awareness.”

Ladies and Gentlemen: Google Trend Spamming

Share

NowPublic.com reports that Google is being spammed with searches for “white people stole my car”.

The idea, as far as we can tell, is to inflate the Google Trends data to make “white people stole my car” seem like a suddenly popular term. Thus, luring people who use Google trends to the spyware-o-rific websites that rank for that term.

Google Announces Sitelinks Expansion

Share

If you are a frequent user of Google, you probably know what sitelinks are, if not by name, then by sight.

Sitelinks help searchers by allowing them to go directly to the most popular parts of a site such as the FAQ section, Contact, Locations, etc. From an SEO standpoint, sitelinks help reveal unknown parts of your site to searchers and can help increase the visibility of and traffic to your site. Sitelinks previously only appeared on the first search result however, which didn’t really help if you were trying to move up in the rankings. Continue Reading
