Google+ Branded Business Pages and Direct Connect go LIVE!

We have been waiting for Google+ Pages for brands and businesses for a long time. Well, we are happy to say that they are finally here for your social media marketing enjoyment. The new pages are heavily incorporated with Google search and even have their own new feature called Direct Connect.

“People search on Google billions of times a day, and very often, they’re looking for businesses and brands. Today’s launch of Google+ Pages can help people transform their queries into meaningful connections, so we’re rolling out two ways to add pages to circles from Google search. The first is by including Google+ pages in search results, and the second is a new feature called Direct Connect.”

Google’s New Fresher Update to Impact 35% of Searches

You may have noticed that information in the Google search index can seem stale in regards to the content you are searching for. For example, say you search for San Diego Aztecs Football. In this case, you may be looking for recent information, not a webpage from 10 years ago that talks about one of the glory days. Google has noticed this lack of freshness in their algorithm results. In accordance, they are bringing more recent content to the index. This is going to have a BIG impact on search traffic for certain queries, which in turn means that some businesses are going to suffer.

New Google SSL Equals Bad News for Google Analytics Data

If you are logged in to a Google account, you will now be pushed to a secure SSL connection when you are doing your searches from Google.com. So while previously you would have gone to http://www.google.com you will now be directed to https://www.google.com. By doing this, Google is now encrypting your search queries and the corresponding search results.
