Search Engine Land Hires Search Engine Watch's Danny Sullivan

London, United Kingdom - December 1, 2006 - Search Engine Watch's Danny Sullivan, will join Search Engine Land, who, according to information posted on the Search Engine Watch Forum, is leaving the company, due to contractual issues.

With regard to Search Engine Watch, Mr. Sullivan wrote in his blog that ''I felt it was better for me to go off on my own, which is what I'm going to do. In some ways, I'm leaving my baby behind. But the baby's pretty grown up now.''

After the web site and conference series were sold to Incisive Media, Mr. Sullivan announced in August, that he would be leaving Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies. Mr. Sullivan wished Search Engine Watch all the best going forward, and will be involved in the next few Search Engine Strategies conferences, including chairing the SES New York 2007 event, and then co-chairing the San Jose show, followed by the Chicago event, at the end of 2007, as speaker and moderator.

Mr. Sullivan's final blog includes information and history about his career in search engine reporting, and how the industry grew. After the first companion conference to the web site occurred, Search Engine Strategies was held in San Francisco on November 18, 1999. Mr. Sullivan produced the content for that event, continuing to produce major shows in the US.

Earlier this year, Mr. Sullivan explained that, ''Whatever I do, I've tried to make it a hallmark to always to be inclusive of content, people, web sites or organizations that will help my readers, even if I might technically be competing with them. Whatever I end up doing, you can expect I'll still be pointing at Search Engine Watch as appropriate and wish those that remain a part of it the very best.''

Along with Mr. Sullivan, Barry Schwartz, Phil Bradley, Bill Slawski, Jennifer Slegg, Brian Smith and Greg Sterling will be joining him as writers for Search Engine Land. In addition, Chris Sherman will follow in January.

Mr. Sullivan continued, ''I am saying a sad goodbye to my days administrating and moderating the Search Engine Watch Forums. In just over two years, an incredible community has sprung up over there, with nearly 15,000 members.''

As referenced in the blog, earlier this week, Mr. Sullivan issued the following statement privately, ''I have absolutely no intention of going over to the new place with any type of "us versus them" type of attitude. I've always tried to be inclusive of good content and communities regardless if they might be seen as competitive to SEW. At SEL, I plan to continue the same. If there are good discussions here, I'm going to be pointing at them. If there are good opportunities for the mods with SEW, I honestly want the best for you. By no means do I want anyone thinking that staying on here, or perhaps doing other things with SEW, is somehow something I won't like or perhaps "disloyal" in any way. I don't know if anyone was even thinking like that -- but if so, don't!''
