Search Engine, Kahzam, Guards Against Click-Fraud
10/16/2006 - Search Engine, Kahzam, Guards Against Click-Fraud
Pampano Beach, Florida - October 16, 2006 - A new search engine, Kahzam.com, has been created by Charlie Loiacono, along with this partner, Ken Moore. The comic book name, was inspired by the idea that if a search engine could have super powers, it would protect against fraud, anywhere in the world.
According to Mr. Loiacono, Kahzam's archenemies are those who are costing web advertisers thousands of dollars by clicking on their sponsored links and depleting Internet marketing accounts. It is a practice that has landed Yahoo! and Google, Inc. in court. In March 2006, Google settled a class action suit filed by a retailer in Arkansas; the suit accused the search engine and other Internet companies, including Yahoo!, of improperly charging advertisers for fraudulent clicks on their online ads, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Google Inc. agreed to reimburse advertisers for up to $90 million in ad credits, plus attorney fees.
Advertisers pay search engines an average of $1.43 each time a user clicks on their ads, according to Fathom Online, an Internet advertising company. But in some cases, scam artists repeatedly click on those ads to cause a rival company to be overcharged. Kahzam.com combats click fraud with software that only allows the advertiser to be charged for 1 click per day per IP address thus not depleting his advertising account balance unjustly. Mr. Loiacono explained, ''If the same IP address keeps showing up, we can turn it off, based on log reports. If they visit again, they get a blank page. Also, if the click-throughs are coming from Indonesia or Asia, we can shut off the entire region to our client's link.''
To draw advertisers to the search engine, Messrs. Loiacono and Moore are starting the bidding for keywords that surfers use to search at 1 cent each. However, Kahzam.com was not created to only battle the evil foes of fraud; it was also developed to help parents get a better grasp on Internet safety for their children. Messrs. Loiacono's and Moore's second phase is to create an online village, called freeplanetonline.com. Freeplanetonline.com would operate much like myspace.com, but with safety features built-in that separate adults from minors with verified identification (drivers' license, state and/or student IDs), mandatory video cams for instant messaging that lets parents "see" who their children are talking to, and a requirement that adults set up the initial accounts, giving custodial privileges to their children.
With backgrounds in law enforcement, both men see the demand for Internet safety and accountability to be a marketable business concept to parents, who are wary of myspace.com and its reputation. Kahzam.com came to be because the site creators wanted a search engine within freeplanetonline.com that was easy to use and fraud-free. Not seeing one available on the market, they created it. Mr. Loiacono continued, ''We need approximately $500,000 to get freeplanetonline.com off the ground, to program it and launch it. We need another substantial amount for backing to pay programmers and graphic designers. With Kahzam.com, we've developed a business model that has generated income, and we're hoping it also generates investors.''
Kahzam.com is located at 4100 N. Powerline Rd., Suite C-4 in Pompano Beach, FL.
