MindServer Search Engine Platform, Powers Legal eDiscovery

San Francisco, California - January 10, 2007 - A new search engine, developed by enterprise search and categorization company, Recommind, has been released, for its MindServer platform, designed to facilitate locating electronically stored information (ESI) that must be preserved for ongoing or anticipated litigation.

In addition, MindServer 5.0 is designed to make it easier for OEM partners and independent software vendors to embed MindServer enterprise search and categorization capabilities within their products and provide customers with richer capabilities for searching and managing critical information.

MindServer 5.0 is unique among enterprise search solutions with its ability to quickly identify and find - within the enterprise - potentially relevant and responsive information that must be preserved as part of a litigation hold, a requirement of any legal proceeding. In many enterprise environments, the MindServer platform itself can lock down any document or other piece of information returned in a search query. Otherwise, MindServer 5.0 is able to pass the result set from any query to a separate application, such as a content management system or database, for immediate litigation hold lock-down. In addition, only MindServer 5.0 supports multi-selection filters within the user interface, a prerequisite for the highly comprehensive and detailed searches needed for effective litigation hold.

Robert Tennant, CEO of Recommind explained, "With this latest release of the award-winning MindServer platform, Recommind delivers strategic litigation hold functionality, in addition to far simpler OEM integration and improved indexing and querying performance. MindServer 5.0's eDiscovery capabilities support the ESI identification, preservation and collection needs of corporate legal departments, enabling us to deliver even greater value to our enterprise customers. In addition, the ability to simplify integration with other leading information management solutions allows us to strengthen our relationships with OEMs and technology partners and thereby better meet our mutual customers' needs with a wider range of complementary solution sets."

Browning Marean, Partner at DLA Piper US LLP added, "The ability to find and preserve potentially discoverable documents is critical to all of our enterprise clients. Recent revisions to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) specifically address Electronically Stored Information (ESI), what it is and how it must be produced during litigation. Before large enterprises can even attempt to produce such information, however, they must identify and preserve it, which can be extremely difficult and time-consuming under the best of circumstances. The litigation hold feature in MindServer 5.0 is an elegant solution to this vexing problem."

The latest version of the MindServer platform also allows Recommind to be exceptionally "partner-friendly." The platform's improved APIs enable knowledge and content management, email archiving, and eDiscovery system vendors to incorporate Recommind's industry-leading enterprise search functionality into their products, thereby supporting a greatly enhanced platform with highly differentiated search capabilities. MindServer 5.0 also incorporates significant improvements to search relevancy and ease of use, delivers even faster query performance, simplifies integration with Microsoft SharePoint Portal and other existing systems, and provides enhanced reporting capabilities. Some of these features include: -- A significant increase in indexing performance - for faster query speed and information retrieval; -- Customized connectors for document and knowledge-management products from leading vendors like EMC/Documentum, LexisNexis, and Microsoft; -- Support for more powerful 64-bit hardware; and -- Even higher scalability that supports search parameters across terabytes of information. Recommind MindServer 5.0 is available immediately.

Recommind's enterprise search and categorization platform automatically organizes, manages, and distributes large volumes of information from multiple sources. With faster access to the right information, organizations can save time, enhance the quality of work product, increase the value of information assets, and improve competitiveness and profits. Customers include Bertelsmann, DLA Piper US, DuPont, National Library of Medicine, Cleary Gottlieb, Shearman and Sterling, the Australian Government, and Morrison and Foerster. Recommind is headquartered in San Francisco and has offices in New York, London, and Bonn, Germany.
