Answers.com Debuts Second Round Writing Contest
New York, New York - August 16, 2007 - Search engine portal, Answers.com, has begun the second round of its Creative Writing Challenge, which includes a special Back to School category in which writing classes can compete, to run through October 1.
Submissions in the first round included original compositions of up to 750 words of poetry, prose, fiction, essay or any other form of creative writing. First- and second-place winners of the first round will each receive Amazon.com gift certificates and links to blogs in the Answers.com Hall of Fame at www.answers.com/main/writing_challenge_hof.jsp.
The winners of the first round were announced recently. The third-place winner will also be featured in the Hall of Fame. The winners are listed on the Answers.com website. In addition to the Hall of Fame links and online gift certificates, the second round includes a separate Back-to-School category, where teachers can submit entries on behalf of their classes for a chance to win free movie tickets for the class. The second round of the competition coincides with the release of the Back to School Teacher's Toolkit, which includes guidelines for teachers on the use of Answers.com for writing projects throughout the school year.
Jay Bailey, Director of Marketing for Answers.com offered, ''Our goal for the competition is to familiarize people with the breadth and depth of information available at Answers.com. The first-round entries exceeded our expectations in both quantity and quality; our judges had quite a challenge themselves. We hope that with the launch of this next round of the Writing Challenge, Creative Writing teachers will use the competition as a fun team project.''
